High Heaton
The higher, later-built neighbour to Heaton's Victorian streets.
Newcastle's inter-war expansion
Sitting just north of Heaton — home to Charles Parsons' turbine works, covered elsewhere on this site — High Heaton took its present shape mostly through interwar and post-war housebuilding, as Newcastle's suburbs pushed outward from the older Victorian core. It's a settled, largely residential district today, sharing Heaton Park as a green space with its older namesake.
