Arthur's Hill
A dense, diverse pocket of inner west Newcastle.
West of the centre
Arthur's Hill grew as part of Newcastle's 19th-century westward expansion, its tightly packed terraces built to house workers close to the city centre and the riverside industries further out towards Elswick and Benwell. Today it's one of Newcastle's most ethnically diverse inner-city districts, home to Newcastle General Hospital's former site and a short walk from the city centre.
