Fenham

A garrison suburb

Fenham's best-known landmark is Fenham Barracks, built in the 19th century as a base for Northumberland's regiments and long a fixture of the area's identity. Around it grew a substantial residential suburb of Victorian and later terraces, now one of the larger and more established districts of Newcastle's west end, a short distance from the city centre and Newcastle General Hospital.
