Denton

A quiet residential suburb on Newcastle's western fringe.

Between Scotswood and Newburn

Denton sits on Newcastle's western edge, between the riverside industrial districts of Scotswood and the historic village of Newburn, and shares something of both characters: mostly residential streets built up through the 20th century, on ground that was farmland and small hamlets before the city's westward growth absorbed it. Denton Burn, the stream after which part of the area is named, still marks its boundary.
