Growth in the 20th century

Like many of Newcastle's northern suburbs, Kenton's built-up character dates mostly to the 20th century, when the city expanded to house a growing population with new estates. Kenton Bar and the wider Kenton area today form a substantially residential part of north-west Newcastle, home to Newcastle Great Park's newer development on its fringe.
